January 08: Yuu Launch!
Unitron launch the latest user control manged hearing system. The Yuu is unique in that it offers the user the opportunity to 'fine-tune' their listening experience via the remote control. The remote passes the settings for volume preference and sharpness vs. comfort to the hearing program within the instruments. If you really like the sound they give you, you can also tell the instrument to learn that particular level of amplification for the same situation in the future.
January 08: Widex Passion.
Widex launch the latest receiver in the ear - RITE device called 'Passion'. It is nominally the smallest of this kind of aid but still manages to incorporate the advanced Widex programming found within the leading Inteo range. Cosmetically the system looks very good with some elegant metal microphone covers made with gold or silver colour finishes.
January 08: Wax on the Brain?
Lots of hearing systems use the Widex Cerustop technology (the ones on the little grey sticks ;)) to keep wax at bay. In an interesting development using a metal nano-technology finish, Widex are claiming better longevity and resistance to wax ingress through the filter in the base of the cerustop. The new (albeit slightly more expensive) Cerustops are claimed to be able to last three months each before the surface is rendered ineffective. They will be available later in the year.
February 08: 3rd Anniversary Open Week
Despite all evidence to the contrary, we have made it three years without dropping the ball. The open-week attended by our major suppliers was a great success, allowing us to further establish ourselves as 'the' centre for Open fitting hearing-systems in West Wales. With particular thanks for Mr. W. Thomas for his encouraging words: 'It's not the size of your shop-front that's important, it's the quality of advice inside'. Many thanks to all our customers who have helped us grow the business to it's current position. See you all soon for your annual checks. March 08: Wales Grand Slam
OK, perhaps not quite as newsworthy as the other items, but as I was there, I wasn't going to let it go without a mention.
